Classes A1 and A2. Both are 6 or 8 mm in diameter and 3.15 to 40 mm long, with a bulk density above 600 kg/m³, moisture below 10 % and durability above 97.5 %.
The net calorific value is 16.5 to 19 MJ/kg for A1 and 16.3 to 19 MJ/kg for A2, according to the GFTx wood pellets specification sheet.
A1 pellets have an ash content below 0.7 % and an ash melting temperature above 1,200 °C, and are made from stem wood and chemically untreated wood residues. A2 pellets allow ash below 1.5 % and an ash melting temperature above 1,100 °C, and may also contain whole trees without roots and logging residues.
